What makes a country great?

Donald Trump says he will make America great again, but he never defines what that means.   Ben Carson says people should be self sufficient. So, what makes a country great?   I think Ben Carson is close.

A country cannot be great unless it is self sufficient.   For America that means being self sustaining, financially, morally and in the management or our own resources.   A country cannot be great if it does not enable its people to achieve self sufficiency.  

A self sufficient people is empowered by their creator to enjoy life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.   There is no guarantee of  equality of outcome.   One person may be happy to simply fish, hike, hunt and relax in nature.   Another may wish to become the next Steve Jobs.   Who is better off?  

Throughout the history of the world there have been times when America has been self sufficient and has enabled the majority of its citizens to be self sufficient.   These times seem to follow a significant world and/or national event.   The revolutionary war is an example, as is world war two.   The civil war is particularly interesting.   After the civil war, the party of Lincoln (republicans) had ousted the party of Davis (democrats).   This set in motion a long period in which minority groups lacked self sufficiency.   The party of Davis set about to rebuild its institutions.  It simply substituted the ghetto and sanctuary cities for plantations.   Liberal elites truly believe very few among us are capable behaving independently.    The end result is the limiting of an entire society.  The minorities are cast in the virtual bondage of  welfare and drugs, or simply live in the shadows providing low cost labor, and serving as though in virtual bondage.   The situation has gotten worse under President Obama, as nearly half of the country is less than self sufficient.

What needs to be done?

We must restore America to self sufficiency.   We must restore all “Americans” to self sufficiency.   In so doing we will enable America to shine the light of liberty upon the world.  “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free”  This phrase must mean something again.   Mr.  Trump is wrong; we don’t need a wall.  We need 50 million more self sufficient people.

To paraphrase Ronald Reagan… if you seek prosperity for the people of America those living in Furguson, Detroit, Baltimore, Chicago,  .. tear down these walls that enslave with the bonds of perpetual dependency.  

It is more than just the United States that has been hopelessly damaged by the war on poverty.  It is all of North and Central America.   It is amazing that we have spent 22 trillion dollars “fighting” the war on poverty.  We should have divided it up and we wouldn't have any poor.   Let the liberal democrat get a hand on it and you have perpetual poverty at enormous expense.

Now that America(North and Central) has been fundamentally broken by the war on poverty how do we rectify the situation?

Simple … we stop fighting the war on poverty.   It ends tomorrow and we start restoring America to self sufficiency and every American to self sufficiency.   We start by making “made in America”  mean something again.   Along the border of Mexico and the United States;  we build the greatest manufacturing center the world has ever seen.   During world war two; the greatest generation uprooted millions of people from the ghettos, share crop farms, depressed dust bowls and moved them to new and emerging manufacturing centers: California, Texas, Virginia, Tennessee and Nevada ….  It is time to do it again.   

We must call on the youth of America to put their shoulders to the wheel, to wage the war for self sufficiency.   Tear down the ghettos, the projects, the inner city quagmires.   Replace them with parks and vibrant communities.   We must call on the illegals to emerge from the shadows show their patriotism for by the United States and Mexico.   Help us create 50 million Mexican/American manufacturing jobs.

Once we restore manufacturing, the blue collar jobs will enable self sufficiency on both sides of the border.   We’ll have guest workers, but free to come and go as they like.    

America will be self sufficient again:

We will stop the endless national debt.   We will end building “poverty centers” in our inner cities.   We will not build the fence (it will be unnecessary).    The line to work will form on both sides of the border creating the greatest manufacturing recovery the world has ever seen.

Neo Slavery and the progressive agenda

Liberal progressive policies always result in movement away from personal freedom and toward socialist systems.   Socialism eventually begets communism and ultimately new forms of slavery.   We should always remember that liberal democrats are the party of slavery.   Jefferson Davis was a democrat.   Neo-slavery trades personal liberty for government managed life styles, controlled by liberal elites. 

With the Obama administration, we have now achieved government sponsored Neo-slavery.   The government runs the plantations (Baltimore, LA, Ferguson, Detroit, Chicago…).  The slaves are the poor inhabitants.  The slaves are Mexican immigrants, who live in the shadows … working for liberal elites who oversee their deportation, access to welfare, etc.   The slaves are also poor African Americans bound by the drug culture and clasped in chains of welfare and perpetual government poverty.  In cities like Baltimore, the over-seers are all African Americans.   

Neo slaves are both trapped and willing participants.  They are kept on the cusp of freedom, always 1 or 2 votes away.  Their masters (Obama, Holder, Clinton, Warren, Kerry …) may grant additional benefits on their behalf.  All that is needed is a few more votes...   

…perhaps the restoration of a burnt out city, or a tax penalty and access to public amenities; perhaps a little civil unrest; some rioting, begetting even stronger chains of poverty.   The liberal elites are not going to free their Neo-slaves.   The republicans do not have another Abraham Lincoln to set them free.

On moral grounds it is time to end liberal progressive Neo-slavery.

This time the labor of abolition will have to come from the slaves themselves. Restore their sense of membership and participation in their futures.   Restore patriotism in their respective countries.  For the Hispanics; this means Mexico.   For the African Americans, this means the United States.

A single approach will work for both.   The implementation is simple, direct and appropriately timed.    We must stop the destruction of the US economy by the liberal Neo-slave masters.   We most restore the blue-collar jobs that are the stepping-stone from inner city welfare to middle class economic success.

Step one: Immediately initiate a new manufacturing zone along the southern border of the United States.   For companies operating there, state and federal tax rates will be 0.   Payroll taxes will be zero.

Step two: Immediately pass a guess worker program with Mexico to allow free (re)egress of workers.

Step three: Subsidize the development of supporting industrial labor and supply companies in Mexico.   Create a vibrant trade partner and eliminate the need for Mexican Neo-slaves.   Migrate the ghetto trapped poor out of their lives as liberal progressive Neo-slaves and into newly created manufacturing jobs.   Gradually eliminating their former urban plantations.  

America did this in the 1940s to support the industrialization/manufacturing needs of World War II.   We can do it again.    The only issue is what to do with the ghettos so costly to build and maintain in the liberal progressive war on poverty.   Perhaps they will become parks, green belts and shrines to Neo-slavery, long since passed.  The war on poverty has proven itself the empowerment of Neo-slavery.   Let's invest in freedom, liberty, patriotism and the next greatest generation.

Obama Care .. who cares

ObamaCare roll out disaster.   I tried to look at policies in Colorado, but was continuously getting scammed to fraud sites.   My cost would be about 22,400 dollars per year with no benefits.  As the supreme court ruled; it is just a tax.  

The premium for my wife and I would be 1,200 dollars per month (on average) and my deductible between 10,000 and 22,000 per year before plan benefits kicked in.  As the supreme court ruled; it is just a tax.

I was informed by one of my friends that, I was being redirected to scam sites, so the real policies might be better.  I received a follow up phone call from a "navigator".  I asked if the policy was a fraud, he said no.   The company he recommended could provide my wife and I; with care for as little as 20,000 per year, given the fact that I make a good living and am not an ethnically/income disadvantaged person.   

I spoke with some die hard ObamaCare supporters.   The Obama talking points were uniformly echoed by each;  this is all the republican’s fault.  Really?

The talking point is this... we are all one nation and we are all entitled to a new right; health care.  The current administration has totally screwed up our right to health care, but it is still our right.  The republicans vote for repeal or delay. This simply interferes with our right.   The current administration is incompetent, so they need to dive in and save our health care system, before it is totally destroyed.  

I would like to quote our declaration of independence … “

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”

The situation is pretty simple.  Communism; masquerading as Statism has been indoctrinated into our worst generation and our youth; they have chosen to naively relinquish their/our right to ‘life’ to the state.  Without to right to life (self determination), how can the right to liberty and the pursuit of happiness follow?

Our worst generation, those whose political leaders brought us the Vietnam war; and then the protests against the Vietnam Vets and Vietnam Era Vets; seek to mitigate their own immorality by some how trading our freedom for another imperfect form of communism (Statism).

Now for the responsibility of the republicans:
ObamaCare is the new law of the land.   Is it correct to sit back and watch our children and grandchildren relinquish their right to life?   Is it our responsibility to try and protect others from their own immaturity/Statism?   Recent reports have shown that the youth of America, particularly the college graduates, are unable to compete with the high school graduates of 50 years ago; or with their peers from around the world(literacy and math).  Additionally, their maturity level with respect to forming independent family units, businesses, etc is 10 to 20 years behind the achievement of their peers from the greatest generation.   They seem perfectly happy to live in their parent’s basements.  Their greatest worry is if their government handouts will continue; who will pay for their college loans?  Part of the solution may be to raise the voting age to 25, commensurate with longer lifespans... but that is another topic(agism).

Clearly, we have to stop them from ending the world’s great experiment in freedom.  It is necessary to protect their children and grandchildren from them.

So, the republicans need to strike a grand bargain.  If necessary; shut the government down until the bargain is reached.

Accept health care as an inalienable right; as the young Statists and the worst generation demand; but save their grandchildren’s right to life; liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Modify ObamaCare as follows:

1)    Eliminate the individual and corporate mandates.

2)    Require the government to make Medicaid available for sale to everyone

3)    Add a 2 % Federal Sales Tax to subsidize Medicaid and make it a viable no frills insurance product

4)    Require states to provide community clinics to provide walk in wellness services for each community

5)    Add a 1 % sales tax to provide block grants to each state to support the wellness clinics

6)    Tort reform for wellness clinics

After these changes:
1) There will be no need for government health care exchanges.  
2) There will be no fines or penalties.
3) We won't need our own patient navigator or a personal IRS agent  
4) The government can begin the process of transitioning out of the cost of business.
5) Everyone who wants healthcare; will have access.  
6) Private insurance costs/services will become more affordable.   
7) We won't spend 2,000,000,000 dollars on a lame web site (really?); 
8) We won't be managed by an arrogant Statist who says she owes no allegiance to the American people (really?.really?).

When I was on active duty with the Marines, we had a term for a crisp assessment of the current situation.   It was called a Situation Report.

Situation Report 2012:

We are the most blessed nation on earth.   We have the greatest energy reserves of any single nation.   We are the Saudi Arabia of coal ...the Iran of nuclear energy ... the Russia of natural gas ...and we hold enough oil reserves to satisfy our needs forever... if we focus on using it as a chemical and lubricant.

We have

... the greatest untapped industrial capacity.

... the best health care infrastructure and technology.

... the most diverse and capable work force

... the most abundant source of intellectual property

... the greatest untapped capital reserves

... the greatest logistical infrastructure

 but...

...Snafu ... Situation Normal All F'd Up ...by our own government.

So what are we missing ... vision and resolve.

President Obama wants to manage our decline into a liberal progressive socialist state... graceful decline ... over time... superb degradation ...liberal elites... like France, Ireland or perhaps Greece....

How many of you would buy a pizza if the picture in the advertisement simply stated.. high in carb/fat content... slow lingering death to ensue?

So how about a more compelling vision?

How about painting a picture of what is possible if we change course immediately.

Our mission is to restore America as the greatest nation on earth.

Mission objectives:

 

We will be energy independent by 2020. The solution is to harvest an abundance of coal, natural gas, nuclear and petrochemical resources... immediately.    Our top priority is to develop limitless nuclear energy by 2025.  ... alternative solar/wind technologies can  provide niche solutions.  In world war two a determined and empowered population built the greatest economy on earth.   achieved technical and industrial breakthroughs that powered a new world.   Shoulder to the wheel time...we can do it.   We just need to adjust our priorities.

We will provide our citizens with the highest quality, most affordable health care system in the world.  Rather than imposing "obamacare" with the caveat that you'll love it when you find out everything that is in it.... Let's start over and actually ask the people to participate in crafting their own health care system.   Let's simply make "obamacare" a place holder for a 12 month process of discovery.  Let's work with the American people and  through a series of town hall meetings... let's design a health care system that is not bought and paid for by the health insurance lobby.  Let's start with the notion that health care is the meeting of a patient and a qualified care provider in a setting conducive to rendering effective care.... not an ever increasing government bureaucracy and an ever increasing health insurance premium.

We will end "shadow slavery" for Mexican labor. We will implement a modern, efficient guest worker program.  For those who qualify and do the work...citizenship.    Let's stop the liberal progressive notion of immigration of.. by and for elites.   Let's embrace the greater tradition of American emigration. "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free".   This should apply to our good neighbors first, ... after all what does the Statue of Liberty stand for?

We will end dependency on foreign made goods.   By 2020 80 percent of the goods sold on American shelves will be stamped "Made in America" ... not just the USA but America.   North, central and south America should be the manufacturing center of the world.  People will be emigrating to Mexico for educations and jobs.  Our illegal aliens are not a liability but our most valuable asset in the re-awakening of the American Industrial Revolution.

Finally, restore the Americas as the food basket of the world.   Wipe out hunger ... world wide through the growth and distribution of food.  Our national foreign policy should be a free world.. starting with freedom from hunger.
